As we get older the body goes through lots of changes. The most disturbing of these is losing mental acuity. But we don’t have to accept mental decline. There are things that we can do to keep our mind young.

As we age, our bodies go through lots of changes. We begin to get wrinkles and fine lines, it’s more difficult to lose weight, we can’t sleep, our energy decreases, our muscle strength weakens,……I think you get the picture. What may be even more disturbing than all of these physical changes is a decline in mental sharpness. While some of us may think of this as a sign that we’re getting older, we don’t have to accept a decrease in mental acumen. There are ways to help our minds stay younger.

A leading British hypno-psychotherapist explains the importance of sleep and what you can do in order to ensure you get the proper amount.

At one time or another, insomnia and sleeplessness can affect us all and really isn’t something to be too concerned about. Sooner or later, we naturally find ourselves returning to our normal sleeping patterns and things just fall back into place.

Yet research has found that around 30% to 50% of people report being affected by insomnia, while about 10% report suffering from chronic insomnia.

Exactly how much sleep each person needs is, of course, entirely subjective.

DAY TWO: DHUNCHE VILLAGE

Morning found us alive and listening to a distant predawn chant of OM MANI PADME HUM (the Tibetan’s favorite mantra) coming from somewhere in the mountains around us. It was atmospheric and set the tone for the day.  Soon we were out looking for our breakfast of chia and biscuits to get ready for the trail.

Power Tips to Stay Forever Young

Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but not to where the guilt is.

Eat a light breakfast Try a protein smoothie, a handful of soaked almonds, and fruit. Lunchtime is when our digestive fire is at its peak. This can be a heavier meal Dinner should be light, with few carbohydrates i.e. sugar, bread, etc.

As well as damaging your lungs, the ageing effects on the skin are dramatic. Smoking damages the skin’s collagen, etches lines around the mouth and eyes, and causes drier, rougher skin.
