Have you ever seen that movie Boiler Room? Where Giovanni Ribisi is this young college kid running tables in his apartment at all hours of the night? Made out of genuine wood, it is considered a grade four. When I first bought it awhile back, the issue of whether or not it would work well came to mind.
It must have just been the picture in my head or something because the ESPN Poker Club Wooden 4 Deck Dealer Shoe has action better than any other one I’ve used before. Maybe not, but since my expectations weren’t necessarily thinking this was going to be a homerun purchase it just made it a lot better. However, it wasn’t the wood appeal that made this an exceptional buy, it was the other benefits as well.

Many of the dealer shoes you purchase in retail stores only use plastic styles which can cause cards to stick, decks to get bent, and players to get frustrated. This roller is made of steel so you can rest assured that it’s very sturdy and does everything you will want it to do. Trust me, when you use the cheap versions for years, this is a nice change.
Here’s the deal (no pun intended). I purchased about four of these since we had a lot of blackjack players, and while no one really cared, we still had a few compliments. A couple of the regulars that had experienced the old ones screwing up were happy to see the improvement. While it was fun, saying goodbye was probably the best thing I did. It allowed me to go on and do other things in the gambling industry without using my own money.
Today I volunteer my time to local churches and sit as a dealer when they need me to for the summer festivals. All the tables, poker chips, and even each ESPN Poker Club Wooden 4 Deck Dealer Shoe was given to them as a donation to help raise funds for the congregation. It’s amazing to think about the way I used to live, but the money seemed to really kick in after I purchased these shoes. I don’t know if it was the appeal or what , but it was a great addition to my collection.
